As a woman, you know that one day you'll get to this point in life and it's exciting to think about that but let me tell you, nothing beats the real experience! Steve proposed back in January in the most amazing way, you can watch our proposal video here, and now we are in the middle of planning our dream wedding! For the most part, the last few months were spent researching where we would want to tie the knot, who the photographer would be (duh!) and finding an amazing wedding planner to help bring our vision to life! We finally have these pieces in place and have sent out some of our Save The Dates! Now, it's time to start working on a formal wedding invitation, I love working on the little details, they are so important. With that said, I want to make sure we don't get caught up in unnecessary stress during the planning process, I'm going to try to keep things simple but keeping true to the vision. If you have any tips for a bride to be in the midst of planning, please share! I have always said to myself "Gab, you'll never be a bridezilla, no way" and so far I have kept true to that sentiment, but there is plenty of time for the winds to change, haha.
I'm so excited to share that we will be having our wedding in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico! This is a dream come true, we both love traveling, adventure and visiting new places, we decided that this would be the perfect destination for our wedding getaway. Los Cabos is such a beautiful place, I specially love the rock formations that peek out from the ocean, I can't wait guys! After the wedding venue was booked, we spent quite a bit of time searching for the perfect wedding planner, but because this is a destination wedding, we wanted someone that specialized in Cabo weddings to make the planning process much easier from far away. The same name continued coming up during our search, Amy Abbot Events. We reached out and thought she would be the perfect support system to help us with the wedding planning and even though it's only been a few weeks, we love them! Now, because I am a photographer, I thought this part was going to be the most difficult. I used to always say, wow, I can't imagine how hard this decision will be when the time comes. How does Gabby the perfectionist, decide who is going to shoot her wedding!?
Well, the universe works in mysterious ways and I do believe that situations and people are put in your path for a reason. Let me give you the story of how I found our wedding photographer. I recently started traveling with Journey, a company that helps people travel with purpose and make an impact here in the U.S and around the world. Through Journey's Instagram page I found BC Serna, who is an activist, filmmaker, all around amazing person who I truly admire, you guys should check out the work that Journey and BC do! Anyway, I also follow a photographer from LA named Ty French who takes breathtaking photos, in one of these photos I discovered Taylor Saxelby, a model and blogger from LA, who I follow, she is so inspiring and beautiful inside and out. Then! I started to notice the gorgeous photos that Taylor would post and started to wonder, my goodness who is the person behind the camera!? This is how I found Nicole Balsamo Photo, she is an incredible photographer, she knows exactly how to use light and has a lovely, dreamy, editorial, lifestyle vibe, exactly what I'm into. It's truly like I was guided to her through a perfectly lit path. I can't wait for her to capture our time in Los Cabos like only she could. Now, you guys want to hear a funny story? Taylor and BC are a couple (the cutest!) It's such a small world you guys. With that said, finding Nicole and hiring her to be our wedding photographer was the easiest decision we have made to date.
We did a quick photoshoot for our Save The Dates, the photos were taken by the talented, beautiful Brianna Bock! Who happens to be family, she is Steve's cousin and we adore her! The photos were perfectly captured, big thanks to Bri, I loved spending that morning on the beach getting a taste of engaged life and having fun with Steve in front of the camera. Take a look at the photos below!
Thanks guys for being here, I'm so excited to share this amazing journey with you all.
