FIVE BOOKS FOR A HAPPIER, HEALTHIER YOU!

I didn't always love reading, but now I can't imagine a life without the lovely words on a page. I really enjoy losing myself in a good book, learning new things and seeing things in a different perspective. I want to share with you five awesome books I've read recently! You'll see a pattern in the types of books that interest me right now, which is why I want to share them with you, they have all served me well and left me a little better than they found me. I hope they can do the same for you! I've included links to amazon, in case you guys want to give any of these a go.

When I picked up "Pretty Happy" I wasn't feeling too centered, and was definitely not feeling like myself. I wanted to change certain bad habits that had formed over the previous months. The amazing thing about this book is that it covers 4 pillars that can help you achieve a healthy and balanced life. Each pillar builds on the next, and it offers a great base of knowledge to continue to build on as you experience a healthier lifestyle. Another great thing, is that it isn't a book that will leave you overwhelmed with tons of things to do. You simply start learning healthy ways to love your body and also your mind. When I finished the book I felt really refreshed, I felt that I had great tools to continue this positive change I was seeking. I felt lighter, empowered and much happier. The book also touches on proper nutrition and how this plays an enormous roll in how we feel, and look!

SMILING MIND BY JANE MARTINO + JAMES TUTTON

SMILING MIND BY JANE MARTINO + JAMES TUTTON

"Smiling Mind" is an easy to read guide to mindfulness and meditation. It's catered to those of us in the early stages of exploring what mindfulness is and don't really know where to begin. Something really neat about this book is that it is co written, so it offers points of view and life experiences from two different perspectives, I love that approach. Jane and James are down to earth, they recognize that we all have busy lives and show us a great approach to making sure your mind is at peace, which my friends is crucial for excellence!

This is without doubt one of my all time favorite books. It has such useful information, but you really can't hold back the laughter during many of the chapters, it's the best of both worlds. The way she writes and how engaging she is, it's a gift. I love how approachable and relatable she is, plus she uses really funny, ingenious ways to explain situations. All funnies aside, the book has a lot of useful info on how to make time for the things you want to do, it puts in perspective how we are actually wasting time, thinking we are being productive when in fact we are doing the opposite and sacrificing our most precious commodity, time. This one is fun, light hearted and a must read!

THE ONE THING BY GARY KELLER

THE ONE THING BY GARY KELLER

Ah! Where to start with this one. As you can see, it's a little beat up, only because I keep going back to it! "The One Thing" is an amazing read, amazing! I highly recommend it if you're aiming for greater results wether it be in your school work, your career or your relationship. The tools in this book could be implemented in any aspect of your life that you want to excel at. I don't want to give away the very core of the book because the mystery of it and how they presented it, is one of the things I love the most about it. It is simple, yet you have to take a step back and evaluate the full picture to put things into motion. This is an inspiring, moving, and empowering book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I still do!

MASTERING YOUR MEAN GIRL BY MELISSA AMBROSINI

This is such a special book, I have not finished reading this one yet but I had to include it. If you're a woman, chances are you know what it's like to be self critical. Sadly, many of us deal with self confidence issues, I have, specially the last year or so. This book is all about empowerment, about loving the amazing you that is within and implementing ways to keep that self critical voice at bay, so you can live a happier, healthier life. A little back story on how I found this book! Melissa Ambrosini was one of the other Journey participants that went on that amazing trip to Greece to help in a refugee camp (you can read that blog post here). When we met, I immediately adored her, but I did not find out she was an author until after I returned home. What a lovely surprise, I am always looking to expand my mind and because of how I'd been feeling, the title of the book caught my eye instantly. The first pages really resonated with me - more on that maybe on another post - I found it so brave and endearing to share the things she shared and how amazing it is that she has absolutely created the life she always wanted, a happy, healthy life so abundant with love and peace. I'm excited to dive deeper into this lovely read and I hope you do too!
